Liverpool Biennial

Our trip to Liverpool to view the Liverpool Biennial left alot of confusion at first. Upon walking round the exhibitions I couldn't really see the point in it. How could we gain inspiration from these exhibits?? I needed to find a 'gift' to take into uni as part of my inspiration... I hadn't had any luck in finding anything of the sort. Until I got home that day I never realised that as the day went on, I was collecting 'gifts', bit and bobs that sparked my inspiration. I had unconsciously collected a number of items that held a memory of that day in some way. My train ticket; Ormskirk to Liverpool return, a receipt from Nandos; my lovely lunch with my two best friends to celebrate my 21st birthday, receipts from shops that reminded me of the gorgeous cloths I had bought my son. These things might have ended up in the bin on any other day, they were waste! And I had thrown those things into the bin the little insignificant memories of that day may have been wasted too!
Then upon reflecting back on the Liverpool exhibition I remembered a piece of work I had seem. This wasn't in the Biennial but it was in the Tate Liverpool. This now had given me some inspiration linked in with the idea of wasted memories.
